About the Play: In 1170, Archbishop Thomas Beckett was murdered in the Canterbury Cathedral, in one of the most famous assassinations in British history. King Henry II supposedly said, “who will rid me of this troublesome priest?” In 1935, T. S. Eliot, one of the most influential poets of the modernist era, was commissioned to write a play about this important event that still resonates today, 854 years later.
National Award-winning composer Erik Pearson is composing music for the pipe organ specifically for our dramatic reading of this play, held at Holy Rosary Church (closest to a cathedral in Bozeman) on April 19 and 20, performances starting at 7:30 pm.
Admission is free, pay-what-you-will, no reservations or tickets required.
