Join us for our 4-day Packing Clinic with Spencer Dominick, happening June 12-15, 2025, in Big Timber, Montana.
Whether you're new to packing or looking to refine your skills, this hands-on experience will build confidence, knowledge, and self-sufficiency when traveling with horses and mules in the wilderness.
What You’ll Learn:
✔️ Packing systems – Sawbuck & Decker loads, hitches, and gear organization
✔️ Horsemanship for backcountry travel – Learn how to prep riding & pack stock
✔️ Hoof trimming & backcountry shoeing demo – Basic hoof care and shoeing skills
✔️ Stock handling & restraint techniques – How to safely manage animals in camp
✔️ Backcountry vet care – What to know before heading into remote areas
✔️ Overnight pack trip to Prairie Camp – apply everything you’ve learned in a real setting
Clinic Schedule:
📆 Thursday, June 12 – Arrivals, packing intro, vet care & farrier demo
📆 Friday, June 13 – Horsemanship clinic with Spencer, practice packing loads, ponying stock
📆 Saturday, June 14 – Load stock, ride to Prairie Camp, set up camp & overnight out
📆 Sunday, June 15 – Pack up camp, ride back, wrap-up & departure
Accommodations & Logistics:
First two nights at Base Camp – Comfortable canvas tents, cots & mattresses provided
Third night at Prairie Camp – Backpacking-style sleeping tents, camp out with stock
Bring your own stock or use one of ours
Shuttle available from Bozeman – Flights should arrive by 12:30 pm on June 12 and depart after 5:00 pm on June 15
This clinic is designed for confident beginners and beyond—if you can steer, stop, and ride independently in open country, you’re ready to join.
